Applicants Welfare & Development Centre is a Non-Governmental Organization established in March 2000. It was registered with the Akwa Ibom State Government through Ministry Of Women Affairs And Social Welfare in 2003, and the Federal Government of Nigeria through Corporate Affairs Commission in 2010. AWANDEC, is a Non-Governmental Organization which has promoted  over time  gender equality, sustainable OVC programming, environmental health, food security through encouragement of home stead farming, WASH, Good governance & leadership, education, training, employment & job creation and ICT & enterprise development. Our service interventions entails improving lives of the vulnerable population in communities of  intervention through advocacy, service delivery and engagement with duty bearers to meet the felt needs of the less privileged in the society.
AWANDEC Team began activities in the month of July 2016 with service provision through home visit by the Community Volunteers. During the Home Visit, Home Case Management Plan was conducted alongside with  Child Status Index for OVC that were enrolled in the month of January 2016. Also, home monitoring was done using the home visit monitoring tool, as well as schools visit. Notwithstanding, the Team also engaged in house to house taking and fixing of passport on household files. Financial literacy training was carried out on the 4th of July 2016, by the prime implementing partner of LOPIN REGION 1 project - ARFH to strengthen the capacity of beneficiaries receiving business start up  business materials. Still in the same month, according to HES Assessment Checklist, HES start up business materials were also procured to be given to the target PLWHIV beneficiaries. AWANDEC monitoring Team,  on 22nd to 23rd July 2016 monitored all the beneficiaries who had benefited in the 2 batches of PRO Vit A Cassava Stem distributions in the month of May and June 2016. In a bit to strengthen the capacity of AWANDEC team, Data Quality Assessment was carried out on the 21st July 2016 to monitor the progress on update of identified weakness in the last DQA in 24 th June 2016. Following the trend, there was a meeting of Program Monitors with the staff of AWANDEC on 27th July 2016 with the objective of seeing the way forward of meeting the milestones required by the CBO. To further season LOPIN 1 project, Familiarization visit to the newly appointed Caretaker Chairman of Okobo LGA was on 19th July 2016.

B. Introduction
The LOPIN REGION 1 Project is a 5 years USAID funded project modeling inclusiveness in programming for Orphans and vulnerable Children in selected States in the Country ie Akwa Ibom, Rivers and Lagos State with respect to the National Priority Agenda which explains the paradigm shift in OVC programming. This is made possible as Association for Reproductive and Family Health (ARFH) implemented a synergy with LOPIN 1 project across the 3 states. ARFH is partnering with 13 Community Based Organizations across the 3 project states. LOPIN REGION 1 is working in close collaboration with states Ministry of Women Affairs And Social Welfare in Akwa Ibom State and in the State Ministry of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation in Rivers.

Notwithstanding, the Team also engaged in house to house taking and fixing of passport on household files. The LOPIN REGION 1 project is aiming at improving the lives of OVCs and also leveraging of PLWHIV for self financial resilient. It was on this note that financial literacy training was carried out on the 4th of July 2016, by the prime implementing partner of LOPIN REGION 1 project, ARFH, to strengthen the capacity of beneficiaries receiving business start up  business materials. Still in the same month, according to HES Assessment Checklist, HES start up business materials were also procured to be given to the target PLWHIV beneficiaries. Still in the month of July, AWANDEC monitoring Team, on 22nd to 23rd July 2016 monitored all the beneficiaries who had benefited in the 2 batches of PRO Vit A Cassava Stem distributions in the month of May and June 2016 showing that Home Stead farms were accomplished as designed in the LOPIN REGION 1 project. The outcome of the monitoring of Home Stead farms was an indicator that in couple of months, the caregivers who benefited from the PRO Vit A Cassava Stem will be able to secure food for the family. In a bit to strengthen the capacity of AWANDEC team, Data Quality Assessment was carried out on the 21st July 2016 to monitor the progress on update of identified weakness in the last DQA in 24th June 2016. Following the trend, there was a meeting of Program Monitors with the staff of AWANDEC on the  27th July 2016 with the objective of seeing the forward of meeting the milestones required by the CBO. To further season LOPIN 1 project, Familiarization visit to the newly appointed Caretaker Chairman of Okobo LGA was on the 19th July 2016.

PROGRAMMATIC MONTHLYPROGRESS (NARRATIVE)

IR1: Improved systems and structures at community, LGA and States providing responsive quality care, protection and support services for vulnerable children and their households
The following activities were carried out to achieve above named intermediate result of the project:
HOME VISIT
In the month of July 2016, the total number of homes visited were 1,747  in 32 Communities in 5 LOPIN 1 wards of Okobo LGA by our CVs. Services rendered were Health Education, Nutrition Education, PSS, Food security and Nutrition Training through Home Stead Farming, Parenting Skills and Education Awareness.  Caregivers of Children at 24 months of age were educated on the effectiveness of colostrums. Notwithstanding, the Team also engaged in house to house taking and fixing of passport on household files. At the end of the home visit, it was seen that the services rendered were of good outcomes, they took cautions and noted areas for improvement.
